Barred Owl

Strix Varia
Barred owls reside in tree cavities of coniferous forests near water sources across most of North America.
They are easily recognizable by their signature "Who cooks for you? Who cooks for you-all?" call.
Owls are expert nocturnal hunters because they have excellent low-light vision and asymmetrical ears that help them localize sounds made by prey.
Barred owls are monogamous and pair for a lifespan averaging 8-10 years.
They are protected under the Migratory Bird Act.
