Black-eared Marmoset

Callithrix Penicillata
Black-eared marmosets live in the rainforests of Brazil, usually residing high in the trees, under the canopy.
They are characterized by the black tufts around their ears. Typically they have white hairs on their faces, with a dark brown or black head. Their upper bodies are gray and their backsides are usually black. The undersides are black with a gray abdomen. Their tail is ringed with black and white and is used for balance.
Black-eared marmosets are monogamous and typically live with their offspring. Infants are extremely dependent on their parents. The offspring are raised with the aid of other juvenile siblings.
Black-eared marmosets are diurnal, meaning they are active during the day.
Their primary diet in the wild is gum tree sap. In the zoo they eat fruit and crickets.
