- Bush dogs are found in the forests and wet savannas of Central and South America.
- Bush dogs have a thick, elongated body with short legs, a reddish brown coat and a darker brown short tail. They have small round ears and a rounded skull with a short muzzle.
- Bush dogs feet are partially webbed; spending most of their time in water.
- Bush dogs are diurnal, and spend their nights sleeping in a den either dug by themselves or in a hollow tree trunk.
- Bush dogs are very social, living in groups of up to ten, maintaining a hierarchy within the pack.
