Fennec fox

Vulpes zerda
Most Fennec fox are found in Africa's Sahara Desert but can also be found in the mountainous regions of Morocco.
Weighing 1 to 3 pounds and having a length of 11 to 16 inches, Fennec fox are smaller than an average house cat.
Their ears are their most distinctive feature. Large in proportion to the rest of the body they are used both to protect from the heat by radiating their body heat and to find prey moving under the sand.
Fennecs are social animals and live in family groups that can have up to 10 individuals.
They have long, thick hair that insulates them during cold nights and protects them from the hot sun during the day. Even the fox's feet are hairy, which protects them from the extremely hot sand.
