Hedgehog

Atelerix albiventris
Hedgehogs have a round body low to the ground with an average length of 7 to 9 inches.
When threatened, the hedgehog contracts its muscles, rolls itself into a ball the size of a large grapefruit which forces its quills out in all directions. When relaxed, the quills lie flat against the body.
Hedgehog's spines are brown or gray in color with cream tips. Their face and underside are a soft, light colored fur.
They are nocturnal and are constantly moving and can travel several miles in one night.
Hedgehogs are omnivores, mainly eating spiders, insects, plant and small vertebrates.
