Long-tailed Finch

Poephila Acuticauda
This black fronted finch has a grey head, rather large red beak, long black tail, light brown body, and dark brown wings.
This species inhabits dry savannahs and open grasslands of northern Australia where it is fairly common.
They feed mainly on seeds of grasses and herbaceous plants, but will also consume insects such as flying termites.
A clutch of 5-7 white eggs is laid three times a year, with offspring being cared for by both parents upon hatching.
