Long-tailed Finch
- Poephila Acuticauda
- This black fronted finch has a grey head, rather large red beak, long black tail, light brown body, and dark brown wings.
- This species inhabits dry savannahs and open grasslands of northern Australia where it is fairly common.
- They feed mainly on seeds of grasses and herbaceous plants, but will also consume insects such as flying termites.
- A clutch of 5-7 white eggs is laid three times a year, with offspring being cared for by both parents upon hatching.
