Mexican Porcupine

- The Mexican porcupine weighs between 3-6 pounds and is covered in brown-gray fur that hides its long quills.
- These rodents usually feed on fruits and seeds, but will also consume leaves, flowers, and buds.
- Using its prehensile tail to grasp branches, the Mexican porcupine is an adept climber of the high elevation forests of Mexico and Central America
- Little is known about their reproduction in the wild, but a litter typically consists of one precocial offspring that has fur and soft quills which soon stiffen.
