The Patagonian cavy is the second largest rodent in South America with its long legs and rabbit-like features.
They can attain speeds of up to 25 miles per hour and leap as high as 6 feet.
Cavies prefer open grassland habitat of South America where they congregate in burrows of 15 or more pairs to group nest.
Being monogamous, pairs of this species have 3-5 offspring 3-4 times per year.
