Sacred Ibis
- Threskiornis Aethiopicus
- The Sacred ibis is a white bird with black tail feathers, a bald scaly black head, and a long black curved beak.
- They are native to sub-Saharan Africa, but have been introduced to parts of Europe, Australia, and even here in southern Florida.
- They feed on fish, frogs, insects, crustaceans, and small birds.
- They are communal nesters, building nests of twigs and sticks high up in large trees to lay a clutch of 2-3 eggs.
- The sacred ibis is often associated with Thoth, the ibis-headed Egyptian god of wisdom, science, and magic.
