Southern Tamandua

Tamandua Tetradactyla
The body of this smaller relative of the giant anteater is golden to tan with a black vest pattern that wraps around the body.
Tamanduas live in wet and dry forest as well as open savannahs near water in central South America.
A tamandua's tongue can extend out more than 1 foot, and is covered with sticky saliva and rear-pointing spines to help remove ants and termites from their nests.
They have four clawed digits on the front limbs and five clawed digits on the back limbs as well as a prehensile tail all of which make them quite agile climbers.
