- Odocoileus Virginianus Virginianus
- White-tailed deer can be found across the contiguous states, southern Canada, and even into Central America.
- As opportunists, they feed on a diverse diet of buds and twigs of maple, poplar, aspen, birch, and many shrubs.
- Males have large antlers that are shed every year between January and March and grow back in April or May.
- Mating occurs in the late fall and gestation lasts 6 ½ months when 1-3 precocial white-spotted fawns are born.
- They are incredibly agile, bounding at speeds up to 30 miles per hour and jumping fences as high as 8 feet.
